The production process comes to a success when certain factors are present. In addition to inherent advantages we enjoy, we make full use of technology to maximize quality and shorten production period. Once production is complete, efficient logistics is utilized to provide our clients the plants in best condition and with minimal delays.
Climatic Conditions
Barak nursery is situated in the Negev, in the south of Israel, a location that gives the advantage of low humidity and only a few cloudy days a year. These climatic conditions result in a short growing period and compact cuttings, with having high energy costs.
Large and Advanced infrastructure
Our growing and propagation facilities for unrooted and rooted cuttings for export consist of eight hectares of greenhouses, which provide a clean and carefully adjusted ecological environment, sealed, insect-proof and shaded. The greenhouses are supported by a computerized irrigation system with sensors that assist in creating optimal watering and fertilizing conditions to maximize the quality and minimizes the time of growth.
From Rooting to Delivery
The Elite material is supplied directly from the varieties breeders or from a biological industry laboratory in Israel as unrooted cuttings, and are being rooted in our rooting station under optimal conditions and turn them into mother plants.
The plants then enter the growth period in which several operations take place: treating them with several substances, including fungicides and hormones in order to keep them in perfect health and conform to the size and quantity requirements, picking flowers are picked and removing redundant leaves, testing them periodically for virus and bacteria, and performing several other actions to reach optimal quality with maximal efficiency.
Entering the season, Harvesting is done by carefully trained personal, instructed and supervised by professional managers. An emphasis is put on fitting the high standards regarding the size, shape and firmness of the cuttings. After a maximum of 15 minutes from the time of harvesting, the cuttings enter a Cold Chain Process: They are refrigerated and packed at a temperature of 4 degrees Celsius, transported in refrigerated trucks to the Airport. Thermographs are placed inside the boxes to allow tracking of temperatures throughout the journey. Boxes are then loaded onto temperature controlled jets, reaching customers within 48 hours from their actual harvesting.
